Mythos im Meer - Die privaten Sylter Filmschätze

In the organizer's words:

Former Achim resident Sven Bohde and his colleague Claus Oppermann have unearthed valuable treasures in the depths of private film archives: Films about Sylt. Footage that has never been seen in public before - it shows the North Sea island as a place full of stories, customs and myths.

The makers have created a new film from over 300 film reels of islanders and vacation guests, which have been painstakingly digitized and restored. Sylt and the private cine films have one thing in common: the danger that they could slowly disappear. "Mythos im Meer" recalls unique moments on Sylt with moving images from 1928 to the 1990s, shot on 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm. This film is a journey through time that shows what it was once like on the island, but also what people currently love about it.
