In the organizer's words:
We all know the must-haves - indispensable objects of desire. But what is important and when? Who still has their heart set on sugar tongs or a stock cube? When it comes to trendy sneakers or the latest smartphone, on the other hand, we have clear preferences.
Using 400 exhibits, we start with a look at life in the pre-industrial era, consider branded goods and department stores around 1900 as well as consumption in times of scarcity and the economic miracle. The exhibition is aimed at anyone who would like to explore the topic of consumption. How can we consume (more) sustainably in the future? What ideas are there for an environmentally friendly approach to the things in our lives that may also accompany us in the future?
