Musikfestival: Signum Quartett - Schubert in Soweto

In the organizer's words:

What happens when the composer "sometimes lets go of time so that it can flow unhindered"? Dieter Schnebel asked Schubert's late works about this in his essay "In search of liberated time". It is a pleasure to listen to Schubert's music for an answer, for example in the quartet movement in C minor, which allows a lot of time to pass during the feverish search for musical ground underfoot, or in the symphonically long outer movements of the String Quartet in G major. In relation to the 30th anniversary of the end of apartheid in 2024, "Liberated Time" has a very personal meaning for the South African Xandi van Dijk, violist of the Signum Quartet. To mark the occasion, the quartet commissioned works from South African composers - and is now traveling to Soweto with Schubert.
