Musikfestival: Anton Mejias - Wohltemperiert II

The two volumes of the Well-Tempered Clavier are compositional milestones. Bach traverses all the keys here and really ignites everything that is possible contrapuntally in the prelude and fugue movements. The second part of the "WTK" in particular is very rarely heard in concert, because it takes an enormous effort even for piano-playing masterminds to play the work in its entirety with its stylistic diversity. Not so for the Finnish-Cuban pianist Anton Mejias: since his childhood, he has continuously explored Bach's piano works and he has always understood the Well-Tempered Clavier as an inseparable masterpiece in its entirety. Mejias also has the gift of bringing out the poetry inherent in each pair of movements.
