"Multimodal Translations Amid Violent Discussions" mit dem Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary : SOLOMIYA STUDIO FESTIVAL im KVOST

In the organizer's words:

This workshop and lecture by Anastasiia Omelianiuk and Yuliia Elyas, founders of the Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary, will look for more politically conscious ways of communicating and translating knowledge between different "camps" and ask how violence affects communication on different levels. Participants will take on the role of "translators" and use different forms of expression to play with meanings and reflect on how violence influences communication on different levels.
Knowledge is inherently political - not only through the perspective of an individual or group, but also through complex external influences, such as information warfare and disinformation. The workshop will explore strategies for communicating across contexts in the midst of camp thinking and information overload, focusing on building solidarity through a shared vocabulary and visual and non-verbal tools.
The Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary team has created the first comprehensive online collection of decolonial terms for Ukraine, bridging Western academic concepts and local, Ukrainian contexts. Articles on topics such as genocide, Eurocentrism and gender subalternity have been written and published on the glossary's online platform.
