Mogwai return today with their new single "God Gets You Back" and announce a major world tour for 2025. It's the first new music from Mogwai in 2024, with more to come, and follows the announcement and premiere of Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound - a first documentary about the band directed by longtime collaborator Antony Crook - and a sold-out first festival curated by the band, Big City, which took place in their hometown of Glasgow this summer. "God Gets You Back" is released with a video directed by Hand Held Cine Club (Justin and James Lockey).

"God Gets You Back" is a well-calibrated return, a song that refuses to rest on its laurels following the success of 2021's official UK #1 album As The Love Continues. Driven by an arpeggiated synthesizer, "God Gets You Back" builds gracefully, with drummer Martin Bulloch ensuring the song moves forward purposefully. Barry Burns decided the song "needed a melody or a vocal, but I couldn't think of the lyrics, so I asked my 7-year-old daughter to come up with one, and she did, and I sang it". The song feels like a natural culmination of her thoughtful work on the acclaimed soundtracks for Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait, ZeroZeroZero and Les Revenants and the power of As The Love Continues.

Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai says of the world tour: "We're really looking forward to our first world tour since the pandemic. We'll be traveling to some great places and can't wait to play our new songs.
