MISS LAVA
Rockhard once dubbed them the Portuguese KYUSS,
Now the stoner rockers, who are signed to the well-known US stoner scene label SMALL STONE RECORDS, are finally back on tour in Europe!
As they are much better known in the US and Latin America than in Europe, the band has prioritized major tours in the South of the USA and the Latin American continent instead of touring within Europe! During one of these tours, the renowned Berlin arthouse and arthouse cinema director Jörg Steineck, who made the only official stoner desert rock cinema documentary LO SOUND DESERT, took on the story of how KYUSS came to be! He filmed and produced the music video of the popular MISS LAVA single: "RIDE"!
In 2022, MISS LAVA played at the popular TABERNAS DESERT ROCK FEST scene festival in the Spanish desert of Almeria.
If you like classic stoner desert rock via KYUSS paired with TRUCKFIGHTERS influences, you shouldn't miss this great LIVE band!
SAINT SERPENT
Groovy stoner metal with catchy, fat riffs and influences ranging from desert to southern rock to punk.
Breaking news: With their new singer Dan and his distinctive voice, somewhere between Kyuss and C.O.C., the guys are speeding along dusty freeways to the next desert town.
In the dusty evening sun, Ramon joins in with his harmonica and makes the grooving sound unmistakable with his dark blues harp inserts.
Old hands
Jan, Michael and Patte started their first band together in 1992 between the schoolyard and the mosh pit, with the DIY punk attitude of the 80s and the brute thrash/crossover sound of the early 90s. The decades came and went, they broke up, played in other bands and got back together again:
Under the new name SAINT SERPENT and from 2018 with a complete line-up (ThomasVocals / "Immortal Scorn") and Patrick (LeadGuitar / formerly "Heartbreak Engines").
The desert lives
Older and more bearded, the original passion for the hard groove was most likely to be found in the lower-tuned desert/stoner rock genre and the first stoner metal songs were recorded as a demo tape(!). They play energetic gigs with Motorjesus, Crossplane, Daily Thompson, V8-Wankers and other denim vest rockers.
The year of the Lord 2019 was crowned by the 7" vinyl single "Trailer Park Witch" recorded by Andy Classen at Stage One Studio.
A rocky road
Turbulent years followed. Corona first put the brakes on everything and then the friends lost their friend Patrick to cancer.
Patte, Jan, Thomas and Michael decide to continue the band in Patrick's spirit, but without a replacement on lead guitar. Instead, the previous guest musician Ramon becomes a full member with his blues harp, as many concerts and studio sessions have shown how much cooler the brute guitar rock can be with his dark Chicago blues style on the harmonica.
More recordings and gigs followed until shouter Tom left the band in early 2024.
The band returned to their original musical role models and found the ideal voice for the hard AND melodic style in new singer Dan ("The Spook", "Heartbreak Engines", "Death of a Demon").
Praise the Riff
Whether the genre-surfing headbanger calls it desert punk, stoner metal or heavy rock is irrelevant after a few beers anyway. Because at the end of the day, we're all just interested in cool, fat and wide-legged riffing heavy sound - unconventionally brewed in the hinterland like XXX-Hillbilly-Moonshine and served on dirty stages in dive bars and rock pubs.
LINE-UP:
Dan - Vocals
Jan - Guitar
Patte - Bass
Ramon - Blues Harp
