MIGRED - 65 JAHRE GRIECHISCHE MIGRATION NACH DEUTSCHLAND

In the organizer's words:

The exhibition "MIGRED - 65 years of Greek migration in Germany" documents the most comprehensive collection on the subject of migration from Greece to Germany. It shows numerous authentic images, personal objects and memorabilia.

The initiator and main organizer Eleni Delidimitriou-Tsakmaki belongs to the first generation of Greek guest workers who came to Germany in the early 1960s to boost the economic miracle and build a better life in their home country with their savings. "We will return soon," said Eleni Delidimitriou-Tsakmaki when she left Greece in 1961. Today, almost 65 years have passed and she and her family are still in Munich.

Eleni Delidimitriou-Tsakmaki's exhibition allows visitors to share in her own fate and that of many other Greek immigrants and their lives in Germany. It draws attention to a part of our urban society that is taken for granted today and shows the complexity of a society characterized by democracy.
