The right to housing is a human right!
Unfortunately, the right to housing is all too often not given because anti-social policies and capital interests are destroying the rental market. Enough is enough! We want affordable housing and a roof over everyone's head!
Come with us to the demonstration at the housing summit, which starts on December 5 at 5 pm at Gänsemarkt.
Anyone who has ever looked for a room in a shared flat in a big city knows the stress. There's hardly anything to be had here without contacts. And if you do, then only at astronomical prices. An average (!!) room in a shared flat in Hamburg costs 620 euros (!!). But the crisis is much bigger than the search for a room can show. There is a shortage of 700,000 apartments in Germany. In recent years, only a quarter of the planned social housing has been completed. Hundreds of thousands of people had to be housed in makeshift accommodation last year due to homelessness.
While real estate companies drive up rents and cheat wherever they can, more and more people are unable to find a home. There are many ways to tackle the housing shortage: We are calling for a nationwide rent cap. We call for investments to be made only in non-profit and social housing instead of promoting luxury buildings. We are calling for tenants' rights to be strengthened. Or, yes, totally crazy, not to allow the market power of a few real estate companies to run rampant.
It's actually the same with housing as with club and cultural spaces. A few investors and their greed are destroying the living space of many individuals and their communities. This makes it all the more important that we fight back together and loudly on December 5. Housing is essential for survival. Housing is a human right!
