Ikemura finds inspiration for her art in old Japanese masters as well as in surrealism, post-war modernism and the figurative painting of the 1980s. Her works depict hybrid, mythological beings, girls and women who are in transition between human, animal and plant. They always deal with psychological, social and spiritual states as well as the relationship between civilization and nature.
