Media workshop for girls

In this workshop, we combine digital media with art. Together we will explore the "Dark Star Backyard" exhibition in the Bilker Bunker, make collages and deal with the following topics in an appreciative environment:

- Deepening digital skills: Critical examination of image and film material
- Self-presentation on social media
- Body norms, ideals of beauty, self-acceptance and self-love
- Visualization of facets of one's own identity

Feel free to bring magazines and printed photos of yourself for collage-making. If you are younger than 13 and would still like to take part, please write to us at info@bilkerbunker.de or on Instagram @bilkerbunker.

Duration: 11 am to 3 pm including lunch break

Background to the media workshop: Digital media has opened new doors for judging people. Especially on social media, insults are uttered carelessly. Body shaming, for example, is unfortunately part of everyday life for young people aged 10 to 14 who read female. The normative portrayal of "female beauty" in the media has a huge impact on young girls' self-esteem. The creative media workshop as part of the "Dark Star Backyard" exhibition focuses on precisely this topic and is intended to offer a "safe space" in which young female readers can critically and reflectively explore ideals of beauty and identity.
