MATHILDE GOES JAZZ

In the organizer's words:

Dear jazz friends,

We are ending the winter season at Mathilde goes Jazz with a wonderful jazz duo on

February 25 at 8 pm in Mathilde Bar, Ottensen.

If saxophonist Bennet Agah were about five years older - or pianist Tim Scherer five years younger - the two would probably have spent almost every day together. Both musicians followed almost identical paths until their studies, where they developed their fascination for jazz through their common mentor Tadeusz Jakubowski - curator of the Mathilde series - among other things.

Tim was in the backing band for Bennet's first audition for the Hamburg State Youth Jazz Orchestra, and last year the pianist had the pleasure of playing two concerts in Bennet's own ensemble. Now the two are playing a concert as a duo.

Both have a selection of their own compositions and favorite standards with them. As one now lives in Berlin and the other in Cologne, there will be a long-overdue reunion on stage, as it should be between friends. The concert also promises to be a musical dialog about much of what both have recently experienced and learned.

We look forward to an evening with you!
