MATHIAS SCHAFFHÄUSER "Singing About it" (album release show, the new album will be released that day)

Electro Pop, Art Pop, Indie Pop

Mathias Schaffhäuser's tenth solo album is called "Singing About It" and the title says it all - there's singing here. Almost every song is sung, and if not, then at least spoken. This has never happened on any of the Cologne native's albums. Although Mathias is primarily known as a producer of minimal, techno and house tracks, almost all of his albums have also featured tracks with vocals, which in recent years have come closer in style to the tracks on "Singing About It". The real difference to what Schaffhäuser has released over the last thirty years is the song form, which is common to all the tracks on the new album. "Singing About It" was not produced for the dancefloor, even if some of the tracks would certainly cut a fine figure there. Ultimately, the fun of singing was the driving force behind "Singing About It". And since the dance floor was not the focus, influences from experimental electronica, mischievous pop and even blues and prog rock were able to carve out more space for themselves. The result can be categorized as art or indie pop, but is also happy in other categories.

STAHLNETZ - After all these years... Minimal/Electro, Synth-Pop

Interesting experience to go back to the starting line after 42 years. Back in 1981, when the first Stahlnetz LP was made (produced by Conny Plank in his studio in Wolperath near Cologne), we didn't really have live concerts in mind. Besides, everyone who was musically "serious" at the time was being swept away by the German fun wave. There was no longer any room for independent, electronic music, which had its roots in Krautrock (Can, Kraftwerk, Neu! etc.) and was continued by younger bands such as DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses, Pyrolator, Grauzone, STAHLNETZ and others. So it's all the more interesting that this music is accessible again thanks to digital distribution channels and that people are coming to the concerts.
