On the occasion of the exhibition The Weight of the Invisible - Part I at Kunstverein Düsseldorf from March 15 - May 25, we are pleased to welcome Wang Bing for a masterclass at Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf. He will give insights into his practice with the help of film excerpts and talk about the background and the selection of his film themes. The masterclass will be simultaneously translated by an interpreter and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. Please register at mail@filmwerkstatt-duesseldorf.de with a short CV.

Wang Bing was born in 1967 in Xi'an in the Chinese province of Shaanxi and is considered one of China's most renowned filmmakers today. After studying photography and cinematography, he came to international attention in 1999 with his first major work, the nine-hour documentary Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks. His films mostly deal with remote and marginalized regions and people beyond the economic centers of the country.
