Let yourself be surprised by unusual perspectives, new experiences and feelings. The IFFMH celebrates exchange. We do more than just talk about films with our two guests of honor. We talk about their attitude, their commitment, their motivations, their entire oeuvre. And of course you, the audience, are cordially invited to ask any questions you are interested in.
Agnieszka Holland's biography repeatedly intersects with historical milestones. Born in Warsaw in 1948, she studied in Prague in 1968. Around 1980, in parallel with the Solidarność movement, she made her first feature films, which were banned by the censors. And even against her current film, a fierce campaign was once again waged in Poland. So how did she come to portray history in the cinema? And why is the view of children and young people on the cruel chaos of the adult world always so important to her? Her perhaps most famous film 'Hitlerjunge Salomon' tells a German and also a Polish story, and its original title was therefore 'Europa Europa'. Based on this, perhaps the most important question is: How does Agnieszka Holland view our present?
Directly before the masterclass, there is the opportunity to see Agnieszka Holland's refugee drama 'Green Border' in the same cinema, which won an award in Venice and at the same time made personal protection necessary for the director.
[The masterclass will be held in English and Free admission.]
