MA.RA. & The New Solarism

With the formation of the duo MA.RA. in January 2024, the musical paths of Manni Schwarz and Raimund Gistels crossed again - after playing together in the Essen-based art-pop band Kammerjaeger. With MA.RA., the two now celebrate live experimentation as a duo, dissecting chords and reassembling the sounds in different ways.
There are only rough structures, because nothing in life is really stable and so the pieces should always be able to develop anew. Raimund and Manni loop tones until chord surfaces emerge, melody lines remind us that the pieces also have structure, it sizzles, crackles, basses wobble, beats bounce. Sometimes relaxing, sometimes rousing, you keep asking yourself how this sound was created and: Which of the two played what?

The New Solarism is the solo project of Gdansk-born violinist Izabela Kałduńska. The music invites the audience on a dreamy and enigmatic journey and explores an emancipation of the small, squeaky violin through the use of effects, loops, sounds, spoken word and even vocals. Izabela started playing the violin at the age of 7 and has since gained experience as a soloist, chamber musician and as a member of numerous orchestral projects in the field of classical violin, but also jazz violin, experimental music, free improvisation and contemporary classical music. In 2024, she released her first feature film soundtrack, together with singer Walburga Walde, for the largest documentary film about the Sorbs "Bei uns heißt sie Hanka".
