Why does the north-east of Europe enchant everyone who has ever set foot in Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia? Is it the endless sunsets on the Baltic Sea, the untouched flora and fauna with the typical stork colonies, the original customs of the people with their colorful traditional costumes, dreamlike landscapes or the vibrant cities of Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius? Photographer Robert Neu provides convincing answers to these questions on foot, by boat and in a camper van. On his journey from the Curonian Spit in Lithuania via the deserted Baltic Sea beaches of Latvia to almost Scandinavian Estonia, he visits a traditional midsummer festival, gets his own Baltic Sea island, attends a coronation, follows in the footsteps of history and even ends up behind bars. He encounters moose, storks and the last brown bears in Europe and tells touching stories about his encounters with the people of the Baltic States.
