In the organizer's words:

The internationally successful light show EONARIUM returns to St. Mark's Church in Munich on 16 January 2025 with its new program ENLIGHTENMENT. This time, the Swiss artist collective "Projektil" presents a unique abstract homage to the magical cycle of life. The immersive images will be accompanied by the iconic music of Vivaldi's famous work "Four Seasons".

Munich, November 11, 2024 - The new light installation ENLIGHTENMENT sends visitors on an audiovisual journey through the annual cycle. Vivaldi's famous work "Four Seasons" was exclusively arranged and recorded by Silvio Buchmeier and supplemented by two of the composer's own works. One experiences a fascinating metamorphosis of spring, summer, fall and winter, followed by "Samsara". This refers to the cycle of growth and decay. A concept of Eastern religions that also describes the infinite cycle of rebirth and suffering in which the soul finds itself. The goal: to escape from it and find clarity. As a result, the show ends in "nirvana", the state of peace and enlightenment in which the soul lets go of its attachment to the world and achieves final liberation from pain and suffering.

Enlightenment in every respect

Following the GENESIS II light show, which celebrated its successful premiere in Munich last winter with thousands of visitors, the roadshow project will be back in St. Mark's for three months (January 16 to March 23, 2025). On a total of 50 performance days, including live music performances on several days, the 30-minute show will immerse the entire church space in captivating animations of light and sound. The audience is not just an observer from the outside, but, seated on beanbags or chairs, is virtually immersed in the action of this multimedia work of art.

In addition to the creative interpretation of a brilliant theme, the ENLIGHTENMENT show also offers the opportunity to experience the architecture of St. Mark's Church in a new way. "Immersion" means immersion - and that is precisely the declared aim of this art form. "The principle of using state-of-the-art technology to turn places into immersive canvases is complex and time-consuming to implement," says Creative Director Roman Beranek. Animations, images or videos are projected three-dimensionally using a 3D mapping projection system. The church interior is precisely measured in advance. High-performance projectors then take over the work and showcase the architectural features, curvatures and surfaces.

For the artists' collective "Projektil" from Zurich, the human desire for creativity is the decisive impetus to be creative again and again. The multidisciplinary team is large. There are visual artists, musicians, programmers, technologists and designers who work together to create innovative experiences at the interface of art and technology. With their EONARIUM shows, which have already been shown in more than 30 cities across Europe and since this fall have also been shown in the USA, they want to inspire and send visitors on a journey into new worlds. The hundreds of thousands of people who have already attended EONARIUM and other "Projektil" shows prove that this concept works.
