How should clothing be designed to last? Which materials are best suited for this and what is important when it comes to care and reparability?
When it comes to making the fashion industry more sustainable, quality plays a key role. As part of the textile strategy, the EU wants to strengthen the rights of consumers - for example through the right to repair - as well as hold companies accountable and enable them to produce recyclable, more durable, repairable and recyclable textiles. At the same time, the quality of clothing from (ultra) fast fashion suppliers continues to decline and consumers are more price-sensitive when shopping due to the economic situation.
We want to know: What role can more sustainable fashion play when it comes to quality and longevity? And how can bricks-and-mortar fashion retailers convincingly communicate sustainability and quality issues and use them to their advantage?
We will be addressing these questions at the Berlin Conscious Fashion Store on January 31, 2024 and are inviting interested consumers and trade visitors.
In addition to an input on sustainability through quality, in a workshop with a designer we will use concrete examples to show how high-quality fashion can be recognized - from stable seams and functional materials to care and reparability. Afterwards, there will be a get-together with drinks where you can bring your own clothes and have them embroidered or repaired on site.
The event is free of charge.
