Maja, a young woman in Poland, falls in love with a man who moves to Germany for financial reasons. She resolutely follows him and finds work as a cleaner. The working relationship with the people she works for is characterized by closeness, intimacy and exploitation. Over time, she takes on more and more responsibility, starting with simple tasks such as shopping and ending with care. But who takes care of her? This question is at the heart of the play, which director Sylvia Sobottka has developed based on her background and intensive research. The play is exemplary for many who are in the service of others. In Germany, over three million households employ cleaning staff, the majority of whom are employed illegally. Almost five million people are in need of care, but who does the physically and mentally demanding work in this system of mutual dependencies? The production takes a personal and humorous, but also bitter look at the people in the cleaning and care sector, who often do not receive the appreciation they deserve.
