LUKAS DROESE "BEHIND THE NOISE" TOUR

Time and time again, they assault us: the moments and phases in life when everyday life threatens to suffocate us. At breakneck speed, we have to learn to shoulder more and more responsibility, deal with loss and not lose ourselves between deadlines, to-dos and social media inferiority complexes. With his third album, Lukas Droese tries to escape this pressure and pull us out of our state of shock.
"hinter dem Lärm" is a mouthpiece for the words that get stuck in our throats, for the emotions that are buried deep inside us and that we can't pour into sentences. 13 songs that will probably make you shed more tears than swing your dancing legs, after which you will feel agitated and yet lighter. While the Hamburg singer searches for ways to keep the upper hand in the race against time in "25 Stunden" or the title track "hinter dem Lärm", "Fluchtwagen" tells the story of unconditional love in the style of an 80s heist movie with a rumbling indie sound. And no, not Bonnie & Clyde: Droese wrote "Escape Car" for his daughter.

Lukas Droese does not shy away from taboo subjects such as miscarriage and dementia either, sharing what is probably the greatest pain of all expectant parents in the emotional climax of the album "Dein Licht" and coming to terms with his grandfather's dementia in "hungriges Biest". This remarkable honesty pervades "hinter dem Lärm" and sets it apart from its predecessors.

After his debut album "Alles wird" (2018), Droese was one of the country's up-and-coming pop poets, with appearances on TV, rotations on major radio stations and support shows for Johannes Oerding, until the pandemic put the brakes on him too. His second album "Umwege" (2020) drowned in the Covid maelstrom and left him burnt out. In this respect, "Behind the Noise" is also a very personal comeback story for the musician. "I see the album as a kind of collage" says Lukas Droese "Modern pop songs hang next to classic singer-songwriter pieces, rumpy indie sound sticks under light lo-fi soul/pop." The creation of "hinter dem Lärm" also differs fundamentally from its predecessors. For the first time, he not only wrote the songs, but also produced, mixed and mastered most of them. As unconventional as the approach is, the result sounds fresh and unique.
