LOVE LETTER

New England has always been a breeding ground for some of the most passionate and soulful voices in hardcore. LOVE LETTER, comprised of members of "Verse" and "Defeater", are the latest powerhouse to join this esteemed lineage. On New Year's Day 2017, LOVE LETTER guitarist Jay Maas ("Defeater") contacted vocalist Quinn Murphy ("Verse") about a joint project, laying the groundwork for what would later become their debut album "Everyone Wants Something Beautiful". As longtime friends, the question of whether they would write music together was more a matter of when than if, as both musicians cut their teeth in some of the best bands in the New England hardcore scene.

Jay Maas has also produced countless records for other bands at Getaway Recordings in Massachusetts, including "Bane", "Counterparts", "Title Fight" and many more. After working behind the scenes on so many important records, Maas is now back at the helm. "I've produced records for two decades, had the chance to work with thousands of artists, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to bring together some of my favorite people who also happen to be extremely talented musicians."

Maas enlisted Andrew Reitz, a founding member of Defeater, as drummer, along with guitarist Matthew Spence and engineer and bassist friend Dave Alcan. The result is high-octane instrumentation paired with Murphy's poignant yet biting lyrics and vocals. The first single from the debut LP, "Misanthropic Holiday or Vacation," sounds like both a warning and an indictment, exploring the way we are supposed to treat the human condition in modern society. It seems to blur the lines between perseverance and begrudging surrender, culminating in a cathartic release that leaves you both obsessed and enraged.

The band's songwriting is characterized by a remarkable freedom, and their desire to push the boundaries of what is possible. Pushing boundaries where heartfelt, soulful and heavy music can go is evident with every note and word. (Source: Booking Agency | Translation: Feierwerk)
