MATZE PRÖLLOCHS

BIRTH NO BIRTH is the debut album by drummer, composer and performer Matze Pröllochs. With the dream-pop duo "Me And My Drummer", he became widely known in 2012, released two studio albums and successfully toured Europe for several years. After the end of the band, he increasingly turned to theater music in addition to his activities as a freelance drummer. In collaboration with director Christopher Rüping, he created award-winning works for major theaters across Germany. Most recently, together with director Leonie Böhm, he developed a performative self-experiment at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, which dealt with the inner liberation of acquired rules of behavior.

Matze Pröllochs' solo debut BIRTH NO BIRTH deals with the subject of birth and also gives space to the sad event of miscarriage. For many people, pregnancy and the promise of a new life that accompanies it is the most auspicious time of all. At the same time, there is a shadow over the deeply familiar reflection of this hopeful moment, the miscarriage. Often this experience remains in the intimate, unshareable realm of life, associated with feelings of isolation, powerlessness and self-doubt. "My experience is that when a person opens up to others about miscarriage, it often leads to great resonance. Many people have points of contact with it. Very few talk about it openly" says Matze Pröllochs, who with BIRTH NO BIRTH is looking for a way to transform this intimate experience, which is shared by so many, into a shared experience.

Angela Aux, for years on a mission between pop and underground, anti-folk and experimental pop. Notorious songwriter and weirdo, mastermind of Aloa Input, film music and typewriter performances, contemporary to eclectic, cheerful to melancholic to bizarre. His live shows have long been insider tips, solo and with a great band, beautiful choral singing to broken hobo lyrics with changing references from Beck to Velvet Underground, Mac DeMarco, Beatles and Justin Vernon. Many years on the road in dress and wig, recently disguised as an alien. Announcing the future, serving from the past, always creating confusion in the present.
