Live-Hörspiel "Bonnie & Clyde"

In the organizer's words:

Bonnie and Clyde are the most famous gangster couple in history. They robbed banks, shot at police officers, killed, escaped from prison and fled across the USA in the early 1930s.

But it didn't start like that. It started with a stormy love affair, a few stupid coincidences, a dreamed-of future - abruptly interrupted by a first spell in prison that would change Clyde's life forever. After that, he'd had enough. He wanted a life with Bonnie in freedom, he wanted revenge on the authorities and the banks, but he didn't want to harm the civilian population. And they stuck to it. They roamed the country robbing and shooting, long celebrated by the press and the population, and embodied the liberation that the USA so desperately needed after the Great Depression.

How did it end? We know. Bonnie knew that too, when she wrote shortly beforehand:

Some day they'll go down together;
And they'll bury them side by side;
To few it'll be grief
To the law a relief
But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.

Johanna Steiner's live radio play tells the story of Bonnie and Clyde in a fast-paced, relentless and modern way, which sounds like a fairy tale and simply isn't one.
