Literaturfestival KOMISCHE WOCHE

In the organizer's words:

The Kassel Literature Festival will take place for the 11th time from March 29 to April 4, 2025 - under a new name! The unique festival on the literature and science of the comic, which the Brückner-Kühner Foundation has been organizing since 2000, is being renamed in its 25th year and is now called: Comic Week.

Whether political elections and reorganizations, environmental events and climate change or military conflicts and humanitarian disasters: Currently, almost every week seems to be a very funny one, a strange one, an incomprehensible one and the seriousness in the world seems threatening and overwhelming. Not losing your sense of humor can sometimes mean work. However, comedy and the comic offer more than just entertainment and distraction; they can help us to overcome crises by drastically exaggerating facts, formulate previously unthinkable counter-proposals and, last but not least, help us to confront our own fears and make them tangible and understandable.

All of the artists invited to this year's festival know that comedy can mean hard work and that work can often only be endured with comedy, as I'm sure you do too. In the Palais Bellevue as the festival center and at various locations in Kassel, we present live acts dedicated to comic literature in a variety of formats: From comic readings to chansons and live radio plays to cartoon tours and reading stages - Kassel celebrates the cultures of the comic. We can look forward to performances by Nora Gomringer, Stefanie Sargnagel, @kriegundfreitag, Olaf Pyras, Pigor & Eichhorn, Kirsten Fuchs, Ella Carina Werner, Katinka Buddenkotte, Susanne M. Riedel, Anja Dorrer, Thomas Hof, Christoph Steinau, Valeska Weber and Petra Kaster. The program also includes the awarding of the Kassel Literature Prize for Grotesque Humor to Nora Gomringer and the Kassel Comedy Colloquium, a specialist conference on the subject of comedy and work.

Many thanks to all those who shape, promote and co-organize the Comedy Week - and of course to those who visit it!

We wish you a Comic Week - in the most stimulating sense.
