On March 8, 2025, International Women's Day, the Munich Red Cross with the emerging Center for Social and Cultural Affairs and the bookstore libro fantastico invite you to a reading of the highly acclaimed book "Today is a good day to abolish the patriarchy" with Barbara Streidl. An event for anyone interested in topics such as equal rights, feminism and social justice.
Even if women today are better off than their mothers and grandmothers, the patriarchy is not giving up that easily. Vigilance, wisdom and self-confidence are called for when dealing with male power and violence on a daily basis. Third-generation feminists write about their personal experiences and their strategies against patriarchal structures. "Today is a good day to abolish patriarchy" is a powerful and provocative collection of essays that encourages reflection and calls for active participation in social change.
The reading offers the opportunity to experience selected passages from the book live and to discuss the underlying ideas with the author. Barbara Streidl will answer questions from the audience in an open discussion and talk about the background to the book.
