Hardly anyone can disguise political discourse as skillfully as Bernadette La Hengst. She has released almost 20 albums since 1988. In the 1990s, she became the most multi-faceted protagonist of the Hamburg School with her band Die Braut haut ins Auge. She is not only a great songwriter and musician, but also a director, choir leader, radio presenter and author. "Warum ich so laut singen kann" is the first comprehensive and annotated collection of her song lyrics. She talks about her lyrics with Jenni Zylka and performs one or two songs.
