The valet Figaro wants to marry the chambermaid Susanna. But it's not that simple. Count Almaviva is stalking Susanna despite his marriage to the countess. Then there are Marcellina and Bartolo, who still have unfinished business with Figaro. Last but not least, the page Cherubino makes advances to the Countess, making the chaos of the court intrigues perfect. In Le nozze di Figaro, first performed in 1786, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart uses the elegance and playfulness of his music to depict crumbling court morals and lovable characters who become entangled in their intrigues until they show understanding in the end.
