Photographic installation "LAST GENERATION" in the identity-forming architectural monument Alte Brotfabrik Overbeck from 1904

Founded in 1904 by Arnold and Wilhelm Overbeck, the "Overbeck Bread Factory" in Duisburg-Beeck was an important employer, producer of "reform bread" and a central place of resistance during the Nazi era. Since 1985, the listed factory has served as a studio for the artist Cyrus Overbeck and as a venue for important art events.

Ruth Bamberg was inspired by the history of the Alte Brotfabrik and the artist. Her photographic installation "Last Generation", part of a cycle begun in 2018 in collaboration with young actors, explores the role of photography as a means of democratization and transcultural dialogue. The Brotfabrik symbolizes the resistance against Nazi tyranny and the fight against discrimination and racism.

Bamberg, known for her critical and interdisciplinary artworks, transforms social aspects of humanity into tangible experiences. Her work includes video installations, immersive 3D spaces and projects in the spirit of social sculpture. She has worked with renowned directors such as Christoph Schlingensief and Sönke Wortmann and has established herself as a freelance artist.
