Enjoy surprising, exciting and entertaining short film evenings in a cozy open-air atmosphere in the Mediapark. First-class sound is guaranteed thanks to wireless headphones. The headphones can be borrowed from the information stand from 20:30 for a deposit of €20.

Under the title Made in Cologne, we present young German short films from Cologne, including music videos, feature films, a documentary and a skater dance video.

Johanna's vacation with her mother in idyllic Piecht is anything but relaxing. Pura Vida Ibiza takes viewers to the Poller Wiesen on a summer afternoon. And find out why Ritchie is looking to make friends with a group of young people celebrating Nelly's 18th birthday. In the documentary Kassieren, the three filmmakers Lea Sprenger, Franca Pape and Amelie Vierbuchen go in search of archive material about the Kalk chemical plant in Cologne. Who decides which stories are kept or thrown away? In cooperation with the Akademie för uns kölsche Sproch/SK Stiftung Kultur, we dare to experiment by dubbing this 9-minute film live in the Cologne language.

On the hunt for the perfect snapshot, in a futile search for peace and quiet or in the middle of preparations for a heist. The desire to leave everyday life behind, go somewhere new, experience something or even be someone else. All of this seems possible in the feeling of summer lightness, doesn't it? In this second short film evening in the Mediapark, we are showing short films and music videos with surprising, funny and absurdly ordinary summer plans.

17.08.2024 - Best of German Short Film Award

Short films are exciting, innovative, entertaining and always good for a surprise. The German Short Film Award is the most important and most highly endowed award for short films in Germany. It has been awarded to outstanding short film productions since 1956. Since 1998, the nominees and award-winning films have gone on tour every year as the Kurz.Film.Tour.

We have selected four films from the current year for you: Alex in den Feldern directed by Marie Zrenner, the Short Film Award in Gold and the nomination in the category "Feature film of more than 10 minutes to 30 minutes running time", El Secuestro de la Novia / Der Brautraub from director: Sophia Mocorrea. In addition, the short film award in gold The Waiting by Volker Schlecht and XANH directed by Thi Dang An Tran , which is nominated in the category "Animated film up to 30 minutes running time".

Enjoy the best of the short films in Germany, with the right summer drink in your hand, of course.
