In our place

"This is a story about five friends. They have their own meeting place. As one of them volunteers to go to the front and another wants to leave the country illegally, they decide to meet up again. At their meeting place, they laugh, argue and talk about serious topics. But one thing always remains the same: their friendship.

I chose this movie because it left me with a sad feeling after watching it. There are friends with their traditions and meeting places, but then the war comes and everything falls apart. There is this fear of losing each other. Life feels like "before" and "after". That light-heartedness from before will no longer exist. That's what happened to me - one friend is in India, the other in Canada, and nobody knows when we'll see each other again. Besides, it's the work of a friend of mine, and I'm thrilled with the movie and proud that I know Andrei Ostrikovsky. He did a great job and all in just one day! And he captured the feeling, the emotions perfectly. And thanks also for the pictures of the familiar places." (Natali)

Millions of people from other countries are living among us and trying to make their way, fulfill their dreams and develop their careers. But it's not that easy as a refugee. The short film "Inside the box" is about social grievances, prejudices against foreign citizens and the German passport that is supposed to make everything better...

"My current documentary lasts 19 minutes and portrays three people from different countries who have fled to Germany. They talk about the challenges they have faced on their way here and in their new life in Germany, and they express their gratitude for the opportunities they have been given here. At the same time, they share their hopes and wishes for the future. It was important for me to tell their stories to create a deeper understanding of their experiences and make their voices heard."
