Kunstmarathon_ das Geheimnis der stillen Milch

In the organizer's words:

Johanna and Hannah are on a quest for humanity in the construction of identity and femininity in the digital age with their work "Das Geheimnis der Stillen Milch".

They themselves feel confronted with societal demands, bound to their own feminine bodies. What do the gender roles constructed and represented in the digital space look like? A central point of investigation is the mask in interaction with our bodies. By combining digital image aesthetics and masks, they want to explore the interface between reality and fiction in relation to the construction of femininity. Masks have long played a role as a tool of illusion and concealment in a wide variety of contexts and cultures. They create illusionary identities and conceal the person behind them. Filters and digital masks, made possible by AI and algorithms, are changing our viewing habits and blurring the line between artificial alteration and authentic representation. They make it possible to create facets of one's own identity and self-presentations in the digital space, which often offer an idealized representation of the person that deviates from reality. The collective construction of a reality that lives from the reproduction and participation of many people and takes place primarily in the digital space influences our daily actions and the perception of our self-image.

The theme of self-staging is presented through the theatrical form of exaggeration and caricature. The absurdity of masks used as a matter of course in the digital space becomes clear.

During the performance, the shop window as a staging area for brands and goods is transformed into a publicly observable 'be-showcase', which in its function is similar to self-staging on digital platforms.

Over the course of two weeks, photographic self-portraits will be on display in the "Kunst im Quartier" space, questioning the artificiality of self-staging - an artificiality that arises through the adoption of social role conventions and the use of masks.
