Kunst muss sein! Im Gespräch mit Chris Reinecke

Düsseldorf artist Chris Reinecke will be giving insights into her artistic work in conversation with curators Gunda Luyken and Claudia Petersen on March 6 at 6 pm.

Art as a democratic medium that should be open to everyone - at the end of the 1960s, Chris Reinecke invited passers-by into her studio or performed on the street in order to reach as many people as possible.

For her, art meant public action. Together with her then husband, the artist Jörg Immendorff, Reinecke rented a space from 1968 onwards in which exhibitions and actions were held, but which was also a meeting point for political groups such as "Mietersolidarität".

In 2023, the artist, who trained and lived in Düsseldorf, donated a collection of early works to the Kunstpalast, which will be shown in the SPOT-ON room in the collection tour.
