Why should the 33rd Kulturarena rock the theater forecourt with just one act when it can have more? Nope. There's no double whammy to worry about here. It's a triple! On a seemingly normal Thursday, the opening concert with Skilbeck and Flo Mega & The Ruffcats picks up where last year left off: It's going to be colorful, it's going to be eclectic and it's definitely going to be a bit mega.

Flo Mega & The Ruffcats would put it like this: "Everything is a lot. Everything can. Everything must." With this announcement, they are coming to Jena for a musical dialog to tell their sizzling love story of hip hop, soul, pop and funk and demand a response from the audience: Dance, energy and sweating. Flo Mega, who has spent wonderful hours on big stages with Samy Deluxe, the Fantastischen Vier or Gentleman, also likes it rough, small and simple: glamor and dirt, spotlights and twilight. Everything is a lot. Everything can. Everything must.

After reaching second place at the Bundesvision Song Contest with "Zurück" and releasing several albums and features, there's another Zurück - with Soul and the Ruffcats! They have been working together since 2007 and the Ruffcats know their way around soul music! On their new album "Über das Grau", they explore all varieties of this wonderful genre together and now invite you to enjoy this funky, warm sound experience live.

And how does double become triple? Quite simply. The evening is introduced in a self-confidently bombastic manner by four young guys from Hamburg called Skilbeck, who simply want to make even more music in the shortest possible time.

How do they manage that? Well, maybe like this: The arena is now an oven. To ensure that the cake rises particularly well, the favorite ingredients techno, jazz and hip hop are first whisked together smoothly. The finest punchlines from the "potato rap" genre provide the even heat. After the first taste, you won't want to stop. The band would certainly recommend this recipe, after all, they knock on the doors of large venues with healthy self-confidence: "Without a harmony instrument, but with double bass and clarinet, we deliver bombastic basses, chunky saxophone solos and rolling rhythms." We've already acquired a taste for it and want more!
