Aspiring playwright Barton Fink moves to film noir Hollywood, but is only needed there as a writer of B-movies. The world around him is increasingly coming apart at the seams: his hotel is falling apart, his lover is lying dead in bed next to him, and his roommate is getting stranger and stranger. Where is his head going? The film was nominated for three Oscars and was the first to win both the Palme d'Or and the awards for Best Director and Best Leading Role at Cannes.
