The Hamburg auction house Hauswedell & Nolte closed its doors in 2015 and handed over its business records to ZADIK - a unique testimony to its almost 80-year history. In 466 auctions, books 📚, modern art 🎨, Old Masters and non-European cultural assets were auctioned off - their paths led to collections, museums and libraries worldwide.

🔍 The exhibition sheds light on the history and development of one of the most important German auction houses of the 20th century. Selected examples are used to trace the paths taken by the objects sold.

📂 These traces are essential for art market and provenance research. The documents handed over to ZADIK by the auction house are valuable sources - but rarely accessible to the public. The exhibition makes them visible! 👀
