Kornstad Trio | Ruhrfestspiele 2025

After the jazz saxophonist and tenor Håkon Kornstad thrilled the Ruhrfestspiele audience last year as a soloist, this year they can look forward to a triple treat: together with Kornstad, the renowned jazz musicians Frode Haltli on accordion and Mats Eilertsen on double bass form the Kornstad Trio. They combine elements of jazz, classical music and contemporary sounds and yet, or precisely because of this, move far away from any genre ascriptions. Not only do the musicians perform at the highest level with their instruments, but Håkon Kornstad's expressive voice also contributes to the uniqueness of the concert. The trio is characterized by its innovative arrangements and versatile musicality and is known for its intense live performances, in which it offers a unique blend of melody, improvisation and harmonic diversity. Each concert takes the audience on a new and different journey, no two evenings are the same.
