Selin Sümbültepe, born 1986 in Hatay, Turkey, is an independent artist with two studio albums and several singles. Her debut album "Cızgan" was released in 2017, followed by "Ben Estim Sen Esme" (2021). In 2024, she released the EP "Hemhal" (engl. "unite"), produced by Zeid Hamdan, which pays homage to the culture of Hatay, which was hit hard by an earthquake in 2023. Their new songs have a healing effect and are a return to their roots.

Inspired by artists such as Fairuz, Yasmin Hamdan, Naissam Jalal, Bariş Manço and Aysel Gürel, she combines Middle Eastern sounds with Western influences. With her fusion folk-pop, she has performed at renowned festivals such as the Istanbul Caz Festival and has been featured in Turkish media and on the BBC program The Arts Hour.

Selin plans to expand her international audience and perform more in Europe in the future. Her EP "Hemhal" is a powerful statement of her identity and a new chapter in her career. Stay tuned!

Selin Sümbültepe - Biography
Selin Sümbültepe was born in Hatay in south-eastern Turkey in 1986. To date, she has released two studio albums and several singles - always as an independent artist. Her debut album "Cızgan" was released in 2017, followed by her second album "Ben Estim Sen Esme" in 2021. In 2024, she released the EP "Hemhal " ("unite" in German), produced by Lebanese indie and world music pioneer Zeid Hamdan. "Hemhal" is a tribute to the culture of Hatay, which was hit hard by a devastating earthquake in 2023. Selin's new songs have a healing effect; she believes that by returning to her roots, she can get closer to everything she lost in this natural disaster.

Selin Sümbültepe loves and is inspired by artists such as Fairuz and Yasmin Hamdan, the two divas from Lebanon, by the impressive flautist Naissam Jalal and by the Turkish icons Bariş Manço and the great lyricist Aysel Gürel. Their music blends Middle Eastern sounds with Western influences, complemented by melodies that are deeply rooted in their cultural background. Selin has already performed her fusion folk-pop at numerous festivals in Turkey, including the Istanbul Caz Festival, the Bursa Nilüfer Müzik Festivali and the Bozcaada Caz Festivali. She is also regularly featured in Turkish media and was part of the Istanbul edition of The Arts Hour on BBC Sounds. She now aspires to reach an international audience and plans to become more present on European stages in the coming years.
