Konzert: Le noir de l´étoile von Gérard Grisey

To kick off 2025, Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart is continuing a tradition of the museum: concerts of contemporary music were held at Hamburger Bahnhof when the museum opened in 1996.

Gérard Grisey's powerful one-hour percussion ensemble composition Le noir de l'étoile is a magnificent study of space and time that transports the listener into an almost physical experience of cosmic dimensions. Acoustic signals from the pulsar Vela, 7,500 light years away from Earth, form the sonic and poetic starting point for the monumental spatial piece for six percussion instruments grouped around the audience, which is characterized by rotation, periodicity, deceleration and acceleration.
