The Palace Museum is once again organizing an extraordinary concert on a historical instrument. Following the great success of the fortepiano concerts in previous years, this year a concert on the clavichord will take place directly in the current special exhibition ResidenzWechsel. Two museums, one exhibition.
Piano sonatas by the composer and ducal Braunschweig court kapellmeister Johann Gottfried Schwanberger (1737-1804) will be performed. Schwanenberger was Kapellmeister of the opera house on Hagenmarkt from 1767. Pieces by Friedrich Gottlob Fleischer (1722-1806) and other composers of the 18th century will also be performed.
Former church music director Claus-Eduard Hecker, former cantor and organist at St. Katharinen, will play on the clavichord from around 1750 currently on display in the castle museum. You can find out more about music in the mid-18th century and the connections between the castle, instrument and composers in an introduction and short "interludes" by music collector Peter Karsten.
