Konzert Berliner Solistenkonzert

Under the direction of Christian Steyer, the ensemble sings a sensitively arranged concert cycle of old German Christmas carols.

"Old German Christmas carols are beautiful," says Christian Steyer. "Their age-old message of light being born in dark times - does it still resonate with us? All too often, their tremendous (super)vitality is ignored. We want to feel its pulsating core again. That it takes courage to hope for light in the midst of darkness. That this is also why we sing. Until the rejoicing appears. Unexpectedly. Then we rediscover the old."

The young singers have won numerous jazz prizes and scholarships. They have contributed music to various films by Tom Tykwer and Wolfgang Becker and were featured in the "Urban Planet" pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. Some of them have released music with Julia Hülsmann on ECM and have performed on stage with greats such as Bobby McFerrin and Angelique Kidjo. The complete concert cycle is also available live on a double CD.
