With horses through the wild heart of Asia
Lecture by Christian Bock
Although at that time he could not even ride a horse and had no experience with the animals, Christian Bock bought his first own horse at a cattle market in Kyrgyzstan. He loaded it up with equipment and provisions and roamed the wildest parts of the high mountainous country between Kazakhstan and China for several months, reins in hand. This type of travel fascinated him so much that he soon returned to Kyrgyzstan. He has now spent a total of two years traveling with horses in Kyrgyzstan. Over five summers, two winters and more than 5,000 km of travel, some of which he spent alone in the wilderness and some with shepherds and hunters in the highlands, the country has become his second home.
In his multi-award-winning presentation with unique images, he tells of the loss of his horses, never-ending snowstorms and nights at -40°C in a tent, wolf attacks and friendship with a she-wolf, Chinese terrorism and clashes with the military, as well as the indescribable hospitality and hard life of the Kyrgyz nomads deep in the mountains.
