HARRAGA had its festival premiere at the ZÜRICH FILM FESTIVAL and at the Hofer Filmtage. It was nominated for the German Documentary Film - Music Award and the German Documentary Film Award at DOK.fest Munich .

That's what the movie is about:

Imad, Nourdine, Walid and Hamza live in a stone cave under a lighthouse in Melilla. Every night, the Moroccan teenagers break into the nearby harbor. There they try to climb unnoticed onto ships bound for the Spanish mainland. They and dozens of other children have formed their own society under the protection of the rocks. Director Benjamin Rost documents the impressive lives of these young people over the course of five years. The film's title describes the widespread practice of illegal North African immigrants burning their papers and thus their identity when arrested by the police. A gripping documentary that offers an insight into an unknown world.

We will be back as a film team together with the protagonist Imad, whom we met as a street kid in Melilla, for a public discussion and will present the film in person. Imad is now a gym model, is studying for a degree in robotics and is set to become a Spanish citizen.
