Kinder, Kunst und Aktivismus (Lecture Performance)

In the organizer's words:

Children, art and activism - today and 60 years ago

How can theater and performance contribute to combating racism in schools? Such questions, i.e. art and activism, have often been the focus of the last three years, during which the theater consultants have provided important impulses for our program.

The performance scientist Heike Roms also deals with art and activism and the role that children play in it. For the first time, she was able to show that children made an important contribution to the invention of performance art in the 1960s. At the same time, many children were fighting against racism as activists in the Civil Rights Movement - not least in schools. Heike Roms and the theater consultants exchanged ideas in a series of workshops. Now they are presenting their findings to us in the form of a lecture performance: What do art and activism mean to us - then and now?
