Lecture by Pascal Violo
Canada and Alaska - synonymous with wild nature, freedom and adventure, encounters with bears, moose, whales and dancing northern lights - travel journalist Pascal Violo explores the Rocky Mountains and Denali National Park in search of untouched wilderness. He flies around the summit of the "coldest mountain in the world" in a small propeller plane. Together with his family, Violo crosses the Inside Passage, a deserted island world in south-eastern Alaska, on a sailing boat, and paddles 800 km as a river nomad through the eternal forests of Canada along the Yukon, the longest free-flowing river in the world. After an adventurous encounter with a bear at his tent, he finally reaches Dawson City and explores the history of the gold seekers around Jack London.
At a Pow Wow, Violo experiences the fascinating world of indigenous cultures and immerses himself in colorful dances and rituals. At the end of his expeditions, a highlight awaits him in the Arctic at Hudson Bay: the travel photographer observes polar bears at close range and understands the fragile connection between man and nature.
