Junges Ensemble Ruhr – FASSADEN

The JER stands for the joy of discovery and experimentation, for the exploration of stimulating themes, people and music. 15 young performers from 4 continents - their music combines traditional elements of their cultures with influences from jazz, pop, reggae, classical music, chanson and new music. Songs, texts and images tell what drives them.

The production questions the 'defensiveness' of German society in the election year 2025, in times of global crises, fake news and polarization. It is about the 'facades' of large institutions, the credibility of the Western narrative of freedom and prosperity, but also about masks in everyday personal and digital life.

Wouldn't education and art, concepts of participation and encounters be a better response to these challenges than armament and isolation? Commitment to good coexistence makes sense, helps to combat fear of the future and bad moods.
