Julia Schoch, born in Bad Saarow in 1974, grew up in Mecklenburg and lives as a freelance writer and translator in Potsdam. She has received numerous awards for her work, including for her translations of French literature. Most recently, her novel "Schöne Seelen und Komplizen" (Beautiful Souls and Accomplices) was published, which - like her novel "Mit der Geschwindigkeit des Sommers" (At the Speed of Summer), which was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize - was number one on the SWR best list. In 2022, she will receive the German Schiller Foundation's honorary award for her complete literary oeuvre.
