Ludmila, Ljuda or rather Lou? She and her husband Sergej, a successful pianist and definitely a trophy man, are Jewish, yet their daughter Rosa has never been to a synagogue. When Lou accepts an invitation to her aunt's 90th birthday party at a resort in Gran Canaria, she meets the rest of her ex-Soviet family clan and has to ask herself the question: Who am I actually, where do I come from - and where do I want to go? In her new novel, Olga Grjasnowa ("Die juristische Unschärfe einer Ehe" and others) tells the story - as revealing as it is loving and highly topical - of the life and loves of an ordinary Jewish family between Berlin and Tel Aviv (Hanser).
