We had to wait almost four years for Jon Flemming Olsen's new, now fourth solo album. What has happened in this time, what has changed? When you listen to "Haus der Liebe", you realize that the main ingredients in Olsen's musical cuisine are still acoustic string instruments of all kinds ... and yet everything sounds somehow more confident, broader and bigger.

"Each of my previous albums had a sonic concept that set relatively tight boundaries," Olsen explains. "This is my first production without any instrumental self-restriction." So anything that makes the new songs shine and blossom was allowed: Bass and drums for the groove, strings for the soul, electric guitars for rough edges, keys and vibraphone for the nonchalance, choir voices for the power: together with Hamburg's number one musician-producer couple Anne de Wolff and Ulle Rode, Olsen was able to draw on the full range in terms of craftsmanship and "sound".

"We live in a time of urgent questions," Olsen continues. "Maybe that's why there are songs on 'Haus der Liebe' that simply demanded more urgency, more energy in their realization."

But of course, his fourth album also contains the deep, "unkitsched" ballads that are so typical of Olsen. The quiet, thoughtful songs. And the breezy, more comedic ones. The multi-talented artist has obviously not lost his lightness and humor.

For his album release concert at the Schmidtchen, Olsen will also come up with a special treat and take to the stage exclusively - and only here - in a trio line-up.
