John Craigie has mastered the art of creating live shows that feel more like intimate conversations than performances. With humor, wit and poignant storytelling, his shows are a place where audience members feel like old friends. Whether performing as a solo artist or sharing the stage with longtime collaborators, Craigie's ability to make his audiences laugh, think and connect is second to none. As he prepares to release Greatest Hits... Just Kidding... Live - No Hits, his latest live album captures the warmth and spontaneity of those unforgettable nights. Fans can experience one of these next at Häkken in Hamburg on February 2, 2025.
A proven performer, he has regularly sold out solo tours and has also toured with artists such as Langhorne Slim, Brett Dennen, Mason Jennings, Bella White and Jack Johnson. His performances at the Newport Folk Festival, Pickathon, Edmonton Folk Festival and High Sierra Music Festival have earned him a fan base. Add to that numerous European tours and his first Australian tour in spring 2024, and his annual river cruise on the Tuolumne River - just outside of Yosemite, California - continues to be a hit with his audiences, resulting in one sold-out concert after another. To give back as much as possible, he launched the #KeepItWarm Tour this holiday season. By donating $1 from each ticket sale, this tour has raised money for regional non-profit organizations with the goal of fighting food insecurity. An avowed Beatles fan, he has performed acoustic renditions of the Abbey Road and Let It Be albums live to sold-out crowds and released limited edition vinyl reissues of these concerts in partnership with Record Store Day.
At the same time, his catalog has continued to attract tens of millions of streams fueled by favorites like "I Am California," "Highway Blood," "Don't Ask" and "Microdose." With 2024's Pagan Church, he teamed up with TK & The Holy Know-Nothings. Among its many highlights, it spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Americana Radio Albums Chart. Pop Matters raved, earning critical acclaim: "All of Craigie's songs are characterized by something truly indescribable," and American Highways asserted, "In addition to the superb musicianship throughout the album, there are some truly beautiful moments on 'Pagan Church'." In the meantime, he teamed up with Langhorne Slim for the duet "Out On The Road".
For him, the live albums aim to create a sound where the listener feels like they are in the venue, sitting and experiencing the show with the rest of the crowd.
